EMOTION REGULATION FOR PARENTS AND CHILDREN - 14th June | 6.30-8.30pm
All parents “lose their cool” from time to time. So do children. Strong emotions are a part of life, and there are lots of ways we can manage these emotional weather systems that sometimes catch us off-guard.
In this workshop we will look at the ways our brains are wired to get upset, and how everyone in the family can learn how to return to a place of calm and self-control. We will explore simple mindfulness practices to build the brain pathways to inner calm, as well as looking a little deeper at our triggers and the ways to work around them.
Parents are important models to their children. Demonstrating and teaching self-regulation and how to handle strong feelings is one of the most powerful skills that help prepare children for life. Drawing from brain research, Emotion Coaching, heart-centred breathing, and attachment literature, Counsellor Kate will present an evening of practical strategies, with an invitation for greater self-awareness, in an environment of non-judgement.
Included in the evening workshop is a free 20-minute phone consultation with Counsellor Kate about anything you like related to children, parenting, relationships, or counselling.
